April 2009

Wouldn’t you believe it? The Lenten season is almost over, and we are approaching Semana Santa (Holy week before Easter).

Allow us to fill you in on our past month. At first Petra had dreaded it to be a “slow” and “quiet” month without lots of activities, but the Lord had different plans.
Here are a few glimpses in point form of how the Lord has used us.

Charles:
-           Constructing two tables for a shelter for abused women.
-           Assisting with the construction of a home during a special work project with CAG students.
-           Teaching wood shop classes for middle and high school seven times a week;
-           Coordinating work projects for parent volunteers as well as for another visiting electrician;
-           Performing household duties during the week when Petra was out of town with the medical teams;
-           Participating and completing a part of a report necessary for Christian Academy of Guatemala's accreditation to remain part of the Association of Christian School International;

Petra:
-           March 14 - 18: accompanying a team of doctors, dentists and optometrists to Xela, for the purpose of translating between English, Spanish and K'iche.  The team examined about 1000 patients during a span of three days.
-           Keeping up with correspondence.
-           Planning summer travel/deputation itinerary.
-           Carrying out the responsibilities of a mother and a wife;
-           Substituting on various occasions when the regular teachers were not available due to various reasons;
-           During the time at home, taking care of a five year old girl, while her mother teaches;

Yes, the Lenten season is almost over, Semana Santa is approaching. After that, we celebrate the Resurrection Day of our Savior! With this in mind, let us live each day in the power of and for the glory of our Risen Lord!
