August 2004

Hola nuestros amigos, Greetings from Central America!

Finally, after almost a month the computer at our house is operational. Since the computer guy at the school had to work out all kinds of problems with the system, we just had to be patient and wait. :) Now, however, let us tell you about God's amazing leading during and His provision! Amazingly the trip to Guatemala was uneventful. God swung open borders so we could just pass through. Crossing into Mexico we received a "green" light on two occasions and at the Guatemalan border God had people waiting for us to help with the border legalities. Thus, also at this border we were just waved through. Thank you, Lord! Arriving at CAG, we found our home, which is part of the school property, already "stocked" with household items and more. Even though I had packed blankets, towels and a set of dishes for everyone, we wouldn't have needed it. Everything was already here. Again ... Thank you, Lord! Since August 2 Charles and I have been active around the campus. Everyday Charles finds new "Work Order Forms" in his mailbox, requesting some maintenance to be done. This week I began teaching Home Economics four times a week. Also, on Mondays I'll work half days in the school infirmary. During our Orientation session on earlier this month, we realized how important ministry to Missionary Kids is. These children face many "Third Culture" adjustments and challenges. Thank you, Lord for preparing in advance good works for us to do. (Eph. 2:10) Yesterday evening we witnessed the eruption of the close-by volcano, Pacaya. It was quite something to see the lava cone bubbling up out of the crater. A teacher told us that in previous times they have seen the lava spewing into the air, about 150 feet high. Thank you Lord, for your creation! Finally, a big THANK YOU to you who partner with us in accomplishing God's work in Guatemala as well as at the Christian Academy of Guatemala. Thank you for your financial and prayer support.
