"To clasp the hands in prayer is to start an uprising in the spiritual and physical world."

We praise the Lord for His daily protection here in Guatemala and for Charles recovering from surgery in Canada (he is doing extremely well and hopes to return to Guatemala in the next week or two).  We praise the Lord for Union Church of Guatemala, where we worship.  We praise the Lord for brothers and sisters in the Lord, who encourage us and pray with us.
We have learned many new lessons in the area of prayer and spiritual growth.

God taught us this past month that “our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms." (Eph. 6:12)

Never before have I, Petra, experienced the reality of this verse as much as in the past month!  While I can’t go into all the personal details at this point, we do covet your prayers more than ever for the overall situation here in Guatemala.

Over the past few weeks there has been a lot of publicity about the abduction of children and babies - children for the extraction of vital organs and babies to sell for adoptions. Apparently the situation is very tense and everyone is suspicious of everyone.

Missionary friends report that on Sunday, July 1, four short term missionaries were apprehended in a rural area and the people wanted to lynch them.  They had been visiting a little girl whom the mission supports. A missionary in Santa Elena had to be called in with legal protection to get the four Americans released.  I am sure it was a very scary experience for the missionaries.

Please pray against the spiritual forces that are trying to control Guatemala, because God also promises that “it’s not by power, not by might, but by my Spirit," says the Lord.

We are honored to count you amongst our partners in ministry and desire your prayers more than ever, because to clasp the hands in prayer is indeed to start an uprising in the spiritual and physical world.

God bless,
