Our youngest son, Jonathan, having graduated from high school, is now working for a contractor and trying to get into an apprenticeship in a trade. He’s had a great year being in Canada this year and we have seen him mature into a fine young man.
James, who graduated in Guatemala in 2009, had to re-apply for the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. His initial application was halted because he did not have the required drivers license here in B.C. In B.C. new drivers are given a “Novice” drivers license for two years and he could not continue his application with the police until he obtained the “normal” drivers license which he did in June. He’ll begin his police application again this month.
As for things in Sierra Leone, Dan Gans, who traveled with Charles to Sierra Leone in February, is scheduled to return to the US in August. There is no one currently scheduled to take his place, so the drill rig will sit idle until our arrival. The funds for drilling and installing the pumps for wells are already in place and available. The only component lacking is someone on location in Sierra Leone to supervise and operate the rig. Neither is there anyone currently available “on the ground” to supervise the hospital reconstruction until we arrive.
Until all the needed monthly support is in place and we get the "go ahead" from Global Outreach, Petra continues to call and set up appointments to visit folks and churches in order to tell people about the urgent work we hope to soon do in Sierra Leone, give folks the opportunity to partner in that work.
Please pray that when we call supporters, they will agree to continue their support even in Sierra Leone and that God will raise up the rest of the necessary financial support, so we can depart for Sierra Leone as soon as possible.
We are willing and able to go and serve the under-served. Will you be one of our enablers? Please tell us or Global Outreach Mission the amount of your pledge. That way we'll know when the required monthly finances are arranged and we can start planning our departure to Sierra Leone, where we will minister in two year intervals each term.
