What an amazing month it has been! The Holy Spirit has worked in people’s lives to draw them to the Lord and now we are privileged to see the harvest of souls. Reginaldo, one of the custodians at the school, who, after hearing the Gospel last year and deciding to become a follower of Jesus, asked to borrow the “Jesus Film” to show to his extended family one weekend. He told us the following Monday that all of them enjoyed the message very much and all had decided to become Followers of Jesus as well. Praise the Lord! Isn’t it amazing how God draws people to Himself and into His Kingdom! Work in the medical clinic and the Community Kitchen in the rural area is continuing as well. What a joy it is to see everyone again and what a privilege to serve! A few things have changed while we were gone. Now we have a Guatemalan doctor working with us in the villages as well. What a blessing his addition is to our team. Not only is he a medical doctor, but he speaks Spanish as well as the native language. Since there are quite few people in the villages who hardly speak any Spanish, having someone who is bilingual in Spanish as well as in the native language is a great advantage. Please pray for little Amiliana, who is 1 year and 3 months old. She has become sick due to malnutrition. We are feeding her very slowly and carefully with a 10 cc dropper, in hope to slowly raise her weight. Yesterday, as we fed her 80 cc of formula milk, she vomited out 20 cc of the milk. In the afternoon the feeding went a bit better. Despite her cries, we were able to feed the full dosage of milk/formula. In addition to her not tolerating the milk, she currently suffers of diarrhea as well. Please put her on your churches’ prayer list that she will soon gain weight and not be emaciated any longer. Also, pray for her family, especially her mom, who feels empty because of hopelessness. Pray that hope will be brought back into that home. We are certain that God is doing a great new thing. Over the past several months Petra has felt burdened to create an opportunity for the people in the village, through which they can begin to use their God-given talents to provide for their families. After lots of prayer and many restless nights, the idea of starting something like a "Cottage Industry" has developed. At least two ladies, a widow and a single mom whose husband has abandoned her, approach Petra now and then to offer Guatemalan fabric for purchase. Thus far, Petra has bought the textiles for the asking price. Now Petra tries to find a market and a venue to sell the material outside of Guatemala. That way, since the ladies can produce textiles, we can buy it from them for their asking price (that would help support their families), sell it up North for a certain amount and put the difference into a special account for future funding of community projects. Please pray for that endeavor. We are honored to count you amongst our partners in ministry.
