Dear Partners in Ministry,
We trust you are enjoying a wonderful summer. Allow us to share with you a glimpse of what God has is doing in our lives.
First of all, we want to thank:
Nick Way, Marta's boyfriend, who is a web designer by trade, for his work in getting our website up and running! We will be posting photos of our work and life here in Guatemala as well. Check out our "Gallery" for that.
Dave Boyer of Aerco Industries for their donation of a compressor for the feeding center in Yalu. The freezer there is broken and needs a compressor to make it functional once more.
Refrigerative Supply in Burnaby for their donation of the ancillary parts to replace this compressor.
Charles underwent a hip surgery at the end of May and returned to Guatemala in the middle of July already. Everyone here is thankful that Charles is resuming his responsibilities as Maintenance Director.
Praise the Lord for his speedy recovery after the hip surgery. The orthopedic surgeon as well as the physiotherapist had never seen anyone recover as fast after hip replacement as Charles has.
James and Jonathan were a much appreciated help to Petra, during the time of Charles' absence.
James, having his driver's license from Canada, drove to the market each week, as well as to church. Yes, he gained a lot of driving experience during this year already.
Jonathan, always eager to help with physical labor, accompanied Petra to Nutrition/Feeding Centre in Yalu, to help with yet unfinished building projects.
Petra volunteers at the medical clinic in one of the rural areas. Her responsibilities here are many fold as well. She helps with registering the patients, weighing them, taking temperatures and measuring their blood pressures. In addition to these preliminary responsibilities, Petra works alongside one of the doctors as his nurse. In that role, she quite often prays with patients as well and shows Jesus' love to everyone.
The ministry, which supports the medical clinic, hosted a three day Vacation Bible School in July as well. While on the first day 200 children came for the four hour long program, on the third day, we had double the participation! Can you imagine feeding 400 children under the age of 12 years after their activities and bible story? It was such a blessing to see God drawing the children to himself.
We are honored to count you amongst our partners in ministry. Thank you for your ongoing prayer and financial support.
God bless,
Charles & Petra Wirrell
