Since Petra is still in Germany and has only sporadic internet access, this month's Newsletter will be in form of a ministry report.
God is faithful! We have experienced this during this time
especially. Petra has been in Germany, visiting her parents,
grandmother and relations since September 14, ready. Although
initially she only planned to stay until October 14, she felt lead to
extend her stay till after her grandmother's 92nd. birthday and will now return to Guatemala on November 25, 2008.
At times she longs to see Charles and her sons in Guatemala sooner, but each time God shows her that He has a special purpose for this specific time in Europe.
Activities to report:
Petra:
- Sharing of PowerPoint presentation, report and personal testimony at a two different secular high schools in Norden, Germany, with eight
school classes, ranging from grade 6 to grade 12.
- Sharing on various occasions with the same circle of her mother's friends.
- Meeting her cousins and aunt again after more than 8 years, at the
funeral of her uncle, her mother's brother. As far as we know, none
of those relatives are Christians.
- Encouraging and supporting relatives in their grief.
- Supporting her mother by just listening to and praying for her.
- Inviting and accompanying her mother to a local Ev Free Church.
- Arranging and encouraging meetings with pre-Christian relatives (as
far as we know)
Charles:
- He continues his service in Guatemala at Christian Academy of
Guatemala during this time.
- Charles rescheduled travel bookings from Germany to Guatemala.
- teaching carpentry to some of the staff at school after hours.
Reason for Praise and Thanks giving:
1. Praise the Lord for opportunities to share His Love and Grace with
relatives and other people.
2. Praise the Lord for Petra's mother attending church together with
Petra for the fourth time in a row.
3. Praise the Lord for Petra's opportunity to spend quality and
quantity time with her dad. I thoroughly enjoyed our 36 hours together.
4. Praise the Lord for Petra's sister and her family. I am thankful
that they organized such a nice Senior home for our dad.
5. Praise the Lord for cooperation and collaboration of the Christian
Churches in Norden, Germany.
Prayer Requests:
1. Please pray for Petra's dad, who will undergo a surgery in order to receive a heart catheter next week.
2. Please pray that God's love will be reflected through our lives to whomever we come in contact with.
Even though Petra only has sporadic internet access, she is grateful for any modern communication technology, in order to stay in touch with her loved ones in Guatemala and Canada.
Yes, God is faithful!
